Resume
Seeking full time position as a Structural Designer starting January 2027.
Work experience
Execute full structural design and load calculations for multi-state aluminum patio covers and accessory structures. Develop complete structural packages and provide technical redlines to drafters to ensure calculation accuracy. Lead design iterations and jurisdictional approvals through coordination with senior engineers, clients, and AHJs.
Conduct field surveys with an emphasis on scope and precision, ensuring accurate data collection. Managed pre-site setup, including approximate monument location and leveling the total station on rough terrain. Conducted survey of monitoring wells to track displacement of dams.
Execute CAD design modifications for technical drawings, ensuring accurate data representation. Manage the refinement of traffic signals and signing/striping plans, incorporating guidance from engineering experts. Reviewed project scope to ensure all design criteria were fully met.
Projects
Processed Northridge (1994) Sylmar ground motion records. Used MATLAB to plot ground acceleration histories and compute displacement response. Modeled the structure in SAP2000 to compare time-history displacement results with MATLAB outputs.
Coded a general MATLAB routine to analyze 2D plane frames using 6-DOF frame elements. Implemented element stiffness matrices, DOF assembly, boundary conditions, and displacement solutions. Produced axial, shear, moment, and deflected-shape diagrams for sample frame structures. Verified results against provided examples to ensure accuracy of the FEM implementation.
Led team of 4 to design a 12-story concrete structure, earning best design in class. Executed gravity/lateral seismic analysis (ASCE 7-22) and nonlinear fiber-section modeling in SAP2000. Designed and verified special concrete shear walls and boundary elements per ACI 318 standards.
Led team of 4 structural engineering students, coordinating member responsibilities and ensuring deadlines were met. Selected wood framing members for rafters, joists, columns and beams following ASCE 7-16 and NDS standards. Checked lateral forces to determine chord and strut members for the diaphragm.
